Varietal: Seyval Blanc
Wine: Jolie Blond
Label: Breaux Vineyards
Region: Virginia
Year: 2006
Date Tasted: Dec. 2009
Notes: A nice semi-sweet white with a little character to it that works well nearly on its own, with only light backup from bread and cheese.
Tasted at Christmas time with Cornish Hen, where a drier white might have been more traditional, but its full floral aroma (notes of plumeria, apple, and just a hint of fir for balance) made it work. Moderate to light body, but I wouldn't use it with foods that are too delicate; I would guess that oilier seafoods like Maryland crabcake would be a perfect match.
